Fr Loughran together with some teachers and four children from our Primary School, once again visited the Settlement that we have been supporting for the last few years. As ever we were warmly welcomed by the children and staff in the little village school. They had coached a couple of children in English whose job it was to say words of welcome and then the whole school sang songs of greeting.
The venue was Il Cenacolo: the dining room at Corpus Christi College who kindly hosted this Sri Lankan Evening, a fund raiser in aid of our Bosnian Project to support tose who live and are associated with the Hodovo Settlement.
On Monday evening (20/2) the Hodovo Group met in the Presbytery to move the Project further forward. After the time of prayer, the group heard the good news that £5,000 had been donated to help bring over from Bosnia a group of children and adults to coincide with Preston Guild. A further £300 had also been given.
Hodovo is a Refugee Settlement in Bosnia Herzegovina that suffered greatly during the Yugoslavian civil war in the 1990's. During the school half-term, Mark Purcell, Martin Callagher and Eileen Cywinski travelled to Bosnia as part of our support for the community there.
