Tonight we welcomed Bishop Paul as we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the opening of our church.
It was wonderful to see the church so full, just as it was on the day it opened back in November 1979. It was Remembrance Sunday, and Bishop Foley celebrated Mass at 3pm - the very first service held in the new St Clare's.
Tonight we sang some of the hymns which were sung at the opening Mass. We were also joined by several priests who have served at St Clare's over the years, including our former Parish Priest, Canon Loughran.
Children from St Clare's school sang a song of thanksgiving and praise, as we gave thanks to God for all He has done in our church over the last four decades.
Afterwards, we enjoyed some fantastic food, drinks and company in the parish hall. We celebrate our anniversary with much joy, and pray that God will continue to bless our parish in the years ahead. Ad multos annos!
