A Parish Time of Prayer

Parish PrayersSt Mary’s, Fernyhalgh was linked with St Clare’s in the Fit For Mission? Review, and so it was at St Mary’s that forty or so parishioners of St Clare’s gathered on the Solemnity of the Assumption of our Blessed Lady to pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary for the parish, for their families and for their own intentions.

Fr Loughran reminded those present that this was a good day on which to invoke the intercession of our Lady. Just as we want to honour our Lady so does God and by asking our Lady’s intercession on this day, we give God the opportunity to honour Mary.

The Rosary was lead by Fr Loughran, Fr Smith and seminarian Marcin Szymanski who prayed the third mystery in Polish. With hymns and readings from scripture the following intentions were put before our Lady:

The Resurrection of our Lord from the Dead for the gift of joy in our parish, in our families and for ourselves.

The Ascension of our Lord into Heaven for all our parishioners who have died, for our deceased family members, and for a happy death for ourselves.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit for a new out-pouring of the Holy Spirit in our Parish, a new Pentecost in our own hearts and for our families.

The Assumption of our Lady into Heaven for our Lady’s intentions.

The Coronation of our Lady in Heaven for all the blessings of heaven for our parish, our families and for ourselves.
