31 boys and girls have asked to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation when the Bishop visits the Parish in July. And so it was that they assembled together at the 9.30am Mass on January 17th to Enrol in the course of preparation which leads up to the celebration of the Sacrament.
The Gospel for the day was that of the miracle of changing the water into wine at the Wedding Feast at Cana. For the homily, Fr Loughran gathered the boys and girls around him at the front of church, and together they explored how this incident had been a big changing point in the lives of the disciples who followed Jesus. Those disciples had loved to listen to Jesus and to be in his company, but when they witnessed the changing of the water into wine, they realised that Jesus was something more than just a good teacher or preacher that, in fact, he was the Son of God. The boys and girls were challenged to learn more about Jesus so that they too could come to know hin in this specail way.
After the homily each of the candidiates signed an enrolment certificate saying that, supported by the parish, they would do their very best to take part in the course. The picture above shows one of the candidates receiving their enrolment certificate.
