For many the Feast of Our Lady's Assumption is the high-point of summer. This year, as the Assumption fell on a Sunday, our Lady's statue in church was made a little more promient, to bring it to the attention of the congregation. A statue of our Lady was also placed in the church entrance for the feast.
In the afternoon, a group of parishioners and others gathered at the church of our Lady (St. Mary's) at Fernyhalgh. This is our neighbouring parish; and since the 14th century pilgrims have been trecking along the lane to seek our Lady's intercession. That is what we did.
Having gathering in the church we prayed together the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary for ourselves, our familes, our parish, for the Pope and for our Lady's intentions.
