It is the enviable task of every priest to draw the children to our Blessed Lady and place them under the mantle of her protection; and so it is that, reason by season, as Marian feasts unfold, the opportunity to draw the children to our Lady is given to us. May is the particular month when the Church pays honour to the Mother of Christ, and does so very often in the form of a 'May Procession.' That is exactly what happened at St. Clare's.
This year as in most other years, the children gathered in the school hall and began their Marian Service there; then in procession they were led to the church, carrying our Lady's statue, singing as they went. In church their flowers were arranged about the statue.
The children had been taught that Mary always leads us to her son, Jesus, and so it was that the Service ended with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
