No, it's not the beginning of the Grand National but rather the beginning of this year's Confirmation Programme. The boys and girls pictured have, after discussion with their parents, each registered for the course at a Parents' Meeting; they have also 'enrolled' for the course during Sunday Morning Mass.
The Certificate for this says that the individual candidate will do his or her very best both on the course and in taking part in the life of the parish. The boy or girl signed the certificate which has already been signed by the Parish Priest and Lead Catechist who undertake to support the young people during this time of preparation. Also, at the Mass, the congregation promised to pray for the boys and girls each day.
Confirmation will take place in July and be celebrated by the Diocesan Bishop. From now until then much work will go into helping our boys and girls mature in their faith. Please pray for them and those who will lead them.
