childrenJune may seem a long way off but it will be here before we know where we are, and that is when we shall celebrate our First Holy Communions. But is was today, this Sunday in February, that the course of preparation began.

It may have been the first Sunday in the Half Term Week but the majority of our children and parents foregathered in church for this important stage in the journey towards receiving Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion.

The first step is to enrole and that is what took place at the Sunday morning Mass. Our boys and girls came forward with their mum or dad as their names were called and signed the certificate of enrolment which had previously been signed by the lead Catechist and the Parish Priest, promisiing to support the youngsters in their period of preparation. It was at Mass that the parents and cihldren also signed. The parents in support of their children and the child saying that he or she would do his or her very best.

Then following Mass they began their catechetical instruction, the congregation having promised to pray for them.
