Quarant OreThe old title of 'Quarant Ore' still lingers on the lips of some of our parishioners. They well remember the vying for the best display of flowers and candles that existed amongst the Preston parishes; they remember too, the all night vigils infront of the Blessed Sacrament. For in those days the 40 hours was continuous, all through the day and all through the night.

The new title of 'Prolonged Solemn Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament' may not trip so easily off the tongue as did Quarant Ore but the sentiment is the same: prayer before Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament. And that prayer can be for anything; simply sitting with our Eucharistic Lord and saying nothing, or pouring out our hearts about the things that concern us, or interceding for our loved ones, our friends and the situations around the world.

Our bishop has asked us during this time, to remember to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Asking the Lord of the Harvest to send labourers into his harvest should be one of our daily prayers.
