Although our Parish Primary School does not close until Monday, the final Mass for the academic year was celebrated on Thursday. As usual, it was the Mass of St Clare (her feast always falls when the school is closed). As ever, the children were exemplars of good behaviour.
The Mass concentrated on three topics: St Clare and her love of Jesus in the Eucharist; the local Lancashire Martyr's and thanksgiving for the conclusion of another good year. The theme of thanksgiving was particularly important for the boys and girls in the top class moving on to the next phase of their education. Thank too, for the service to the school over very many years by Mrs Tina Monks who is to leave this end of term. The music and singing were at their usual high standard and all the children participated well.
Thanks was given for the high standards achieved in the school with an outstanding inspection by the Diocesan Inspector and very good SATS results. Importantly, the boys and girls in the top class were thanked for the part they had played in the life of the school over the years that they had been there. We pray that they may all have a happy ansd restful holiday.
