Sunday we celebrated the feast of Christ the King. As well as it being this great feast it was also National Youth Sunday for England and Wales. The day started at 3pm with some 40 young people gathering together to prepare for the liturgy.
The young people prepared the readings, which were read with different voices. Two soloists practised their pieces, while the musicians practised the accompaniment. Other young people prepared the bidding prayers, while still others prepared a drama as an introduction to the Gospel reading. About 5:30pm the rest of the young people gathered to make the final preparations for the 6pm Mass. The Mass was a great experience for all those who attended young and old alike. The young people’s preparations made the celebration worthy to Christ the King. After Mass all the young people went to the parish hall to celebrate the day with a Jacobs join. Many thanks to St Clare’s seekers youth group, St Clare’s GFF youth group, St Clare’s Wicked Dynamic youth group and the uniform groups from St Clare’s. Many thanks also to Ruth & Joe from the Metanoia project who facilitated the day, thanks also goes to the social committee for their help.
