Today, in St Clare's school arrived the Year of Faith Icon which is travelling around all the schools in the diocese. It was received at a special assemby in which the boys and girls took part by proclaiming the readings and leading the prayers of intercessions. A beautiful altar had been prepared ready to receive the icon of Christ as it was carried in by two pupils.
Earlier in the day, the boys and girls had been told of the arrival of the icon; its significance had been explained to them as was the meaning of the Year of Faith.
The icon will spend half a day in each class as a focus for prayer and thanksgiving.
On Tuesday our boys and girls in class 8 (Y6) will go on a Year of Faith pilgrimage to our Cathedral in Lancaster.
