The first Saturday of Lent is usually the day that the Cathedral in Lancaster is buzzing with those who hope to be received into the Church at Easter. The ceremony is called The Rire of Election when the Bishop (Michael Campbell OSA) formally welcomes those who are to recieve the Easter Sacraments.
And so it was that Gemma, David & Wayne from St Clare's parish travelled to Lancaster for this special occasion well supported by those who are to be their godparents or sponsors and their family and friends. As the liturgy unfolded they candidates and catechumens were called forward to be greeted by the bishop who prayed over them and welcomed them into this special moment of familial joy.
