May ProcessionThe tradition of honouring Mary in the month of May is alive and well at St Clare's. Thursday the 2nd May saw our annual May procession; it began in school with a short Service and then, accompanied by marian hymns,  the children, parents and parishioners processed with the statue of our Lady to church. Here the children's flowers were collected and later arranged into a bower about our Lady's statue.

In church the marian hymns continued, a decade of the rosary was recited and the statue was crowned. Following Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, all in church recited the following prayer of consecration to our Lady.

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, as your Son lay dying upon the cross He gave you to be our Mother too.  As we gather now to honour you, and seek your prayerful support, we dedicate and consecrate ourselves, our families and our parish to your powerful intercession.  We ask that the cloak of your protection be put around us and that you keep us before the throne of your Son in your prayers.

Dear Lady, obtain for us many graces that we may serve our brothers and sisters.  And that in all things, God may have the glory through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
