The above are words taken from the Rite of Confirmation which was celebrated in the Parish on Trinity Sunday by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt Rev Michael Campbell OSA.
Sixteen of our young people had been prepared for the Sacrament over an extended period by parish catechists so that they could receive this 'new outpouring' of the Holy Spirit and complete what was begun when they were baptised.
Confirmation is one of the seven Sacraments of the Church, it is a guarantee of God's grace to live a good Christian life. But like all grace, it requires the recipent to to be open to use it. This Sacrament equips those Confirmed with gifts: wisdom and understanding, right judgement and courage, knowledge and reverence, together with wonder and awe.
Our prayer is that these young people will be open to use these gifts so as to make a difference in the world for good.
