'Come to me all you who labour and I will give you rest,' are the wolrds of our Lord in the Gospel. And so it was that some of our elderly and sick parishioners gathered at church for Holy Mass in which the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick was celebrated.
Jesus had a great ministry to the sick, dejected and outcasts. He is often found in the scriptures relieving the suffering of the sick. So it is not unusual that his Church should also engage in that ministry. Indeed, the Anointing of the Sick is one of the seven Sacraments of the New Law.
The St Vincent de Paul Society transported members of the congregation to church for this celebration which was followed by a lunch they put on in the Parish Hall.
