Corpus ChristiOn the Feast of Corpus Christi this year, The Year of Faith, Pope Francis, echoing his predecessor, Benedict XVI called for a synchronised Holy Hour of Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament throughout the whole world.

So it was that in Rome at 5pm local time the Pope led a Holy Hour in St. Peter's. In less splendid surroundings, St Clare's parishioners gathered in their church at 4pm (UK being 1 hour behind the continent) to unite themselves with the Vicar of Christ and their brothers and sisters all over the globe in this hour of adoration. So with the people in Western Australia (1am), Eastern (11pm), New Zealand (3am), Eastern USA (11am), The West Coast (8am) etc we knelt in prayer and adoration of this most wonderful gift, the gift of Jesus himself in the bread of the Eucahrist.

Earlier in the afternoon hundreds of Preston Catholics had gathered for a deanery Blessed Sacrament Procession with parishioners from all parishes present. We pray that this devotion of the Eucharistic Jesus may make reparation for the hurts done to him, and that the grace flowing from it may spur us on to be the men and women that he is calling us to be.
