Statue of MaryToday's feast, that of the Assumption of our Blessed Lady, is the 'going home' feast. Mary, the first and true disciple of Jesus, has reaped her reward and has been taken body and soul into the glory of heaven.

She has accomplished that which we profess every time we recite the Creed: I believe in the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting.

Jesus is the 'first fruit' of all who have died to enter heaven and Mary, because she was her son's truest disciple and gained a disciple's reward.

Mary's 'Yes' at the annunciation was pronounced throughout her life. Our way to heaven resides in saying yes moment by moment to God's invitation to follow him.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Happy Feast Day!
