Today 47 young people gathered for the Youth Day to re-launch the Youth Groups after the summer break. Contrary to the weather reports, the day was dry and sunny.
The young people gathered at 9.30am for registration and a couple of games, before they went into church for the 10am Mass. Today’s Mass was the Triumph of the Cross; during the homily Fr. Darren asked the young people what their understanding of the Triumph of the Cross was, their understanding was? It was agreed that it was Christ’s victory over death, and that God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that all humanity may be saved. They also understood the reason why the Priest wears red, because Christ gave his life, and the red represents the blood of Christ.
Just in the same way when we celebrate the Martyrs who died for the Faith the priest wears red. The day continued on the theme of something new, the young people carried out many activities to discover new ways of thinking about God. They also spent a time in prayer to reflect on what names God has for us, some of these names where: child, beloved, son, daughter and many more. Overall the day was informative and helpful to our young people.
