Food BankAt our recent Parish Pastoral Council meeting we discussed our recent appeal for the local food bank and whether we should continue to support this cause.

Next Collection: 10th November

One of the volunteers from the Food Bank has said that the situation is not getting better, it is in fact getting worse. They still desperately need food supplies and due to an increase in requests for items that need little heating up, they have asked for items such as tinned potatoes, tinned meat and tinned fish and also tinned rice and custard.

Other items they need are men's shoes and clothing. They provide showers and clean clothes for the homeless people and seem to have an abundance of larger size clothes, but in fact find that there are a lot of smaller people, therefore men's shoes size 7/8 and clothes size 30/32 are needed also. We were told that the food bank recently provided over 70, two course meals and gave out 70 food packages on one recent Friday.

There will be an opportunity for you to leave items for the Food Bank at Church on Sunday November10th.  We are considering a more long term commitment to the Food Bank and would be happy to hear your views.
