In most parishes each year there will be a number of children whose parents have decided that their child is ready to receive Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. This year, in the main, we are having a ‘fallow year’ when we are raising the general age of Holy Communion by one year.
However, sometimes a child, for whatever reason, slips through the net and fails to receive Holy Communion with their age group. So on the feast of Corpus Christi two boys made their First Holy Communion at the 9.30am Mass. Later in the summer another young man, who is at present living in Arabia (dad’s job), will also receive his First Holy Communion amongst us. Please keep the in your prayers.
The feast of Corpus Christi is also the time when Extra-Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion renew their commitment to the work of service; the renew happened at each Mass.
