On this chilly spring morning, the congregation for the 9.30am Mass, unusually, gathered outside the church, as the liturgy suggests, for the blessing of Palm Branches and to hear the Gospel of our Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. This they did and then processed, singing, into church for the liturgy of the Passion and the Eucharist.
So today we enter Holy Week, towards the end of which we shall arrive at the Triduum where we celebrate one event over three days. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and the Easter Vigil on Saturday night, they are all a piece, they are like a seamless garment. It should be our determination to attend all of these ceremonies; for all of these ceremonies tell our story.
