Standing on the moon

The Book of the Apocalypse depicts a, 'Woman, adorned with the sun, standing on the moon and with twelve stars on her head for a crown.' (Rev 12:1) That is part of the scripture given for today's feast, that of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary body and soul into the glory of heaven. Being the first disciple of her Son, she is the first to receive a disciples reward: life for ever with God in heaven.

Many parishioners gathered at the neighbouring church of St Mary, Fernyhalgh and prayed the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary for the Parish, their families and for themselves.
