The first Monday of the first week in Advent is the time when our parish primary school lead us in an Advent Service, and that is exactly what they did this time.
The boys and girls had obviously been well rehearsed and they way they deported themselves whether reading, singing, moving to and fro or using sign-language was a lesson in serenity. They conveyed the air of Advent: that gentle, restrained, expectant air, tinged with a certain sort of longing, 'O Come, O Come Emmanuel....'
This year the style of Service was different with new music and contemporary songs but the message was the same: to prepare in a spiritual way for the coming birthday of the Saviour.
