To honour the request of Pope Francis, the parish joined in a Holy Year Pilgrimage to the church of St Mary & St John Southworth - a church in the Salford Diocese designated a Holy Year Church with a Holy Door.

Some walked the 7.5 miles to the church, other cycled and yet others got there by other means. The ladies of that parish had put on a fantastic treat of tea or coffee and homemade cakes. When everyone was suitably refreshed and replete, all moved to the entrance to the church to begin the Litury of the Word and Reconciliation. It was there, outside the church that we recited together the Creed, the symbol of our faith. All entered through the narrow (sic) Holy Door and took part in the liturgy, many going to confession. We all prayed for the Pope's intentions so to be ready to gain the Holy Year indulgence.
