Last Saturday young children and their families came over to the parish hall for 'Messy Church', a great way of helping some of the youngest members of our parish to discover more about our faith.

It's a great idea: through art, games and activities, the children and their families got the chance to explore the meaning of Lent and Easter. Moving around the different tables during the afternoon, they were able to write down some Lenten resolutions, make Mother's Day cards and Easter bonnets, discover more about Ash Wednesday and the different stages of Lent, and make a desert in the sandpit, recalling how Jesus spent forty days fasting and praying in the desert, giving us the model to follow in these 40 days. It was great to see a lot of young families there, and to see how Messy Church is a real outreach to some families who don't have much other contact with the Church. It happens a few times a year - the next one is on 13 May.
