As the accompanying photographs testify, work is now moving on apace.
Outside the parish hall, the team of carpenters led by Rob Leigh began the construction of the panels and framework for the Bread of Life float.
Inside the hall the main focus was on making the banners for the walkers in the procession to carry.
Whilst Anthony Donlan brought samples of the international I am the bread of life banners which will feature a national flag on one side and I am the bread of life in the language of that nation on the other, the main body of participants spent their time creating I am the bread of life umbrellas – which not only offer a strikingly visual effect but in the event of rain will also keep those lucky enough to be holding them, dry!
Mention should also be made of the Keane/Reid paper maché collective who did wonderful work in creating chalices and candlesticks to grace the altars on the Bread of Life float.
The third and final workshop is on Sunday 1 July 2012 (3 till 6). More help is needed and no skills are required.
