On Tuesday the Seekers Youth Group made a short Pilgrimage to the Ladyewell Shrine. This was our last meeting for the term and a fitting end to our Lenten Preparations which have included a look at Fasting, making Rosary beads to sell for Almsgiving and of course, as with all of our sessions, making time to meet with God in Prayer.
On our Pilgrimage we wanted to explore the name ‘Seekers’ as, whilst it was initially chosen by the group, there have been many new members since. So why are we called Seekers? The scripture on our group logo states ‘The hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice’ (Psalm 105:3) and what else do we want for our Children than to see them rejoicing? The scripture says for that to happen we must help them to seek the Lord. So we had a treasure hunt, watched a short DVD and explored the relics at Ladyewell to help us all understand how and why we seek the Lord as well as how others before us have done this even to the point of death. We ended with Prayer in the Chapel which included a short talk and blessing from Fr Tom Hoole the Director of Ladywell Shrine and Parish Priest of St Mary’s Fernyhalgh.
Our young people had a great time and had lots of good questions and thoughts as ever!
The group re-starts after the Easter break on 23rd April
