My name is Emma Gardiner, I am 18 years old and I study at Runshaw College. I am also a youth leader in the Parish and I also represent the youth on the Parish Council. On the 7th April at our last Parish Council meeting, Fr Chris was discussing the Hodovo Project that is taking place this summer and what fundraising we are going to do for it. It was at this moment that I thought I would like to organise a fundraising event myself, so this is where my idea of a Ceilidh came in.
At the meeting it was agreed that this was a fabulous idea and that I would look into the costing of it all. After much thought and contact with several different people we found the venue and the date. The band price was still a worry as the band generally cost between £300-£400. If you don't already know, I work at Barton Grange Garden Centre in the Riverside Cafe, where the managing director is Mr Guy Topping. I just happened to bump into him one day at work and approached the subject of Barton Grange sponsoring the event. He asked me to get it all in an email and he responded saying yes they would sponsor us. Without his kind generosity I don't think the event would go ahead due to costings, so I would like to say a big thank you to him!
So everyone a date for your diary...Saturday 28th June, 7:30pm-11:00pm at Corpus Christi Catholic High School.
