Castlerigg Manor

Youth weekend Castlerigg Manor 5th – 7th July 2013. This trip is open to all our young people attending senior school. The group will be split into two age groups over the weekend. The cost of the weekend will be £50.00 per person.

Castlerigg Manor is the Lancaster youth retreat centre with a rich history of working with young people of the Diocese over the last 40 years. It is hugely popular with schools and groups of the Diocese and beyond, and is usually fully booked a year in advance. We have been fortunate enough to secure this weekend for young people.

As you can well imagine a trip away for a weekend would cost a lot more than £50.00. The reason why we can offer this trip at such a low price is due to the fact of a donation made for this purpose. We will also undertake one fund raising event to fund the difference between the price offered and the actual cost.

This weekend is a great opportunity for our young people to escape from the day-to-day routine of life. Time away gives us a chance to re-evaluate where our lives are going, to reflect and learn about ourselves, each other and about our relationship with God.

The weekend will be run by myself, along with Ruth and Joe who run the two faith based youth groups in the parish. Please contact any of us if you have any queries we will be only too happy to answer them.

I would not want any of our young people to miss out on this opportunity for any reason, so if there is any obstacle to your child attending this weekend away, I would ask that you come and talk to me and we will see what we can do to make the trip possible.

The weekend

We will be leaving St Clare’s at 4:30pm on Friday and will return on Sunday afternoon at 4pm, times to be confirmed.

The weekend is split into a number of different sessions designed to help our young people work together in groups to discover more about themselves. between each session there will be time to relax and socialise.

Each day starts with breakfast in the dining room followed by activities throughout the day and evening. As the weather should be good there will be outdoor activities and also opportunities to explore the local area. The weekend will finish after lunch on Sunday with the final session.
