On Saturday 14th June, around 60 young people aged 7 – 18 gathered at St Clare’s for a day of fun and preparation for the visitation of Bishop Michael Campbell OSA.
These young people are all involved in the Parish in different ways including the Seekers and GFF Youth Groups, the Confirmation programme and the Hodovo Mission trip so it was fantastic – if not a little chaotic! – to have them all in one place at the same time.
Thankfully it was a beautiful, sunny day allowing us to make the most of the outdoors for our different games and activities through which we explored the theme of Trinity ready for Trinity Sunday. It also allowed us all to enjoy a BBQ and Ice creams – so a special thanks to all those who made feeding so many young people look so easy! A few members of each of the above mentioned groups also spent some time preparing short presentations for Bishop Michael to explain what they do and what they get out of it. These seemed to be well received at the end of our day together when Bishop Michael arrived and spent time with the group as a whole and then listened to the individual reports and testimonies of the different groups. We ended this special day with a special blessing from Bishop Michael for all of us, especially the young people, gathered there.
