Saturday
Today was another early start, after breakfast we headed off to Hodovo to carry on the building of the Peace Garden.
There was plenty of team work with Michael senior putting John, Michael, Lucy, Steve and Cathy through their paces. Michael senior was cutting the wood while Michael was drilling the holes for the screws and Steve was putting the screws in while Cathy and Lucy sorted out the young people to collect rocks for the surround of the peace garden. Everything ran smoothly with some great team work from the young people and the adults as well. We broke for lunch which the families from the village prepared for us. During the afternoon the young people spent some time together while the adults continued with the Peace Garden. Each morning we have celebrated Mass in the school hall with the young people from the village. In the evening there was the candle meditation as part of the youth festival which we all enjoyed. Then it was back to the hotel for dairies and night prayer.
Sunday
Today was a really early start for the young people, as there was a vision at 8am. We left the hotel at 06:30 to make our way to apparition hill. John led the group, but unfortunately there were so many people they could on get to the blue crosses. After a short while they returned to the hotel for breakfast before we headed off to Hodovo to join the village at their church for Mass. We were welcomed by the parish priest; after Mass we went together to the village and another family had prepared lunch for us, which we all enjoyed. After lunch we went to a local swimming area where the young people where straight into the water to cool down. After their swim we went to Mostar and went to the famous bridge which people jump off which is at a great height.
We then returned to the hotel for dinner before heading off to the youth festival for the procession of the statue of Our Lady. Myself and Steve headed of up apparition hill to see if it was better to take the young people up when it was not as hot, as each day has been around 36 to 40°. We have decided that we will take the young people up apparition hill tomorrow evening. After the festival we returned to the hotel for night prayer, but we have not done the dairies tonight as it was getting late we will do these early in the morning before breakfast.
